This week on The Metallica Report…
We’re talking all things “Too Far Gone?” - specifically, the phenomenal new music video and its mind-blowing star. He’s a pro skateboarder you’ll need to see to believe named Felipe Nunes, and he also happens to be a double-amputee.
We’ve got a few very special guests joining us to dive into the details. Director Buddy Nichols fills us in on how the project came about and the long days that went into creating the video. Our own James and Robert discuss what skateboarding means to them and the inspiration they draw from watching Felipe not only pursue his passion but kick ass doing it. And finally, Renée catches up with the one and only Tony Hawk, who offers up his advice for aspiring skaters and reveals that being in a Metallica video allowed him to cross an item off his bucket list!

This week on The Metallica Report…
Kirk Hammett is back, but this time, he’s talking surfing and how his approach to the waves differs from Robert’s. Later, Spencer Charnas describes his songwriting process and what it’s like to bring an Ice Nine Kills production to the Metallica stage.
Then we step off the stage and into the crowd to hear from a few fans. First, a passionate All Within My Hands supporter named Yuji Moore, who also happens to be an intelligence analyst in the United States Space Force. Then, Renee shares some clips she got while on the road, where a few enthusiastic Metallica Family members explain how Metallica music fuels them in their day-to-day lives.
Finally, Steff and Renee chat about The Metallica Black Box’s latest exhibit, 20 Years of Anger, celebrating St. Anger’s 20th Anniversary. Don’t forget - the virtual museum is always open and free!

This week on The Metallica Report…
Kirk “The Ripper” Hammett discusses his solos on 72 Seasons and the M72 World Tour, specifically his approach to the song “Shadows Follow.” He also geeks out while recounting hanging out with Pete Townshend, the legendary guitarist of The Who, at the Hollywood Bowl and the Peter Green tribute show at the London Palladium.
Band chef Simon Mitchell checks in from Dallas with the low-down on the Metalli-menu and how he preps fresh, healthy meals to help keep the guys in top-performing shape out on the road. And Renée brings a sweet little update from night one in Phoenix and how the hunger-fighting, guitar-shaped Enlightened ice cream bars were received.
And ICYMI, we tie up loose ends and put any worries to rest about Storm, the four-legged-media-sensation who ventured from her house to SoFi Stadium to join the crowd for night one in LA. We’re happy to report that she’s back home safely and no worse for the wear, aside from maybe a little bit of “wag-lash.”
Finally, we’re wishing James a speedy recovery from COVID-19, which caused the postponement of Phoenix’s night two appearance, which has been rescheduled for this Saturday, September 9.

This week on The Metallica Report…
During the wee hours after rehearsals in LA, straight from the dressing room, Lars shares which drummer he can’t get enough of lately, which happens to be the answer to a Metallica Report Listener question! We also spend some quality time with Southern California native & Mammoth WVH frontman Wolfgang Van Halen, who shares his M72 experiences and gets into his band’s new album, Mammoth II.
Steffan gives his first-hand account of what it’s like to be in the Snake Pit when the people around you happen to be pretty high-profile guests, and he shares a touching pre-show moment with James. And Renée has exciting news to report about a new All Within My Hands partnership with Enlightened, the ice cream company helping us produce guitar-shaped treats just in time to cool us down in Phoenix!
Finally, we get into some Family Matters with Metallica Fan Club chapter head Lance Martin from Magnolia Militia, who tells us a story about connecting with other fans traveling around the country to M72 shows and the kind of good luck that can follow!

Episode 4: Week of August 23, 2023
This week on The Metallica Report, Steffan and Renee check in with Robert for his thoughts on night one in Texas, just moments after he left the incredibly energetic AT&T Stadium! And with LA on the M72 horizon, the West Side native talks about his upbringing steeped in beach and skate culture and his later-found appreciation for the East Side.
Next, we stay in LA but flash back to Metallica’s early days with Metal Blade Records president, Brian Slagel, for a first-hand account of the excitement (and errors!) surrounding the band’s first break. And finally, we hear the first installment of our newest feature, Crew Tips, kicking off with Foster, the woman who transforms backstage at each venue into the band’s home away from home.
