16-12-2025 | 45 Min.
Episode 113 – Equine Behaviour Medicine with Dr Gemma Pearson Wow, wow, wow, what a great episode and, obviously, a topic that, as an owner of 2 Sports Horses, is so very close to my heart. Dr Gemma Pearson is a truly inspiring individual who has carved out an impressive career niche in Equine Veterinary Behaviour Medicine. This has allowed her to make an incredible difference in the equestrian sports world and massively improve the welfare and wellbeing of so many horses. In this episode, we chat about what initially sparked Gemma's interest in Equine Behaviour Medicine, how she was able to build an Equine Behaviour Service during her residency at Edinburgh University and some of the incredible cases that she has encountered during her career. We also chat about her PhD, the use of psychopharmacology (and its limitations) in equine patients and Gemma's great work with BEVA on the "Don't Break Your Vet" campaign and the "Hold Your Horses" course. If you love horses this will be a truly inspiring episode to listen to, and even if you're not a horse person, but love hearing about inspirational stories and Veterinary Behaviour Medicine in general, this is an episode not to miss! 112 Feline Human Directed Aggression
09-12-2025 | 37 Min.
Episode 112 – Feline Human Directed Aggression Aggressive cats can be just as scary as aggressive dogs – to some people even more so as their body language may not be as easy to understand as that of dogs. Feline Human Directed Aggression can be difficult to pick apart and coming up with a diagnosis really requires a good understanding of feline behaviour. In this episode, I chat through my main list of differential diagnoses when approaching these cases and how I use feline body language and facial expressions to help guide my decision making. I talk about the most common physical health contributors to feline human directed aggression, how to differentiate between emotionally driven and predatory behaviours and how early life experiences, the physical and social environment and human-feline interactions can contribute to aggressive behaviours. If you would like to learn more about Feline Behaviour, then my "Learn To Speak Cat" course is a great resource for you: https://katrin-jahn.mykajabi.com/learn-to-speak-cat If you'd like support with a Feline case, then you can book a 30-minute Vet-Vet or Vet-Pet Care Professional Consultation with me right here: https://calendly.com/trinityvet/teams-and-professionals If you can't find an appointment time to suit you, please email us at [email protected] to find a time that suits us both!
