In this hastily scheduled half of an Arsecast Extra, James and I look back at last night's horrendous 2-2 draw with Wolves at Molineux. We discuss the team selection, and how after making a great start, Arsenal failed to capitalise on Bukayo Saka's early goal. Despite going 2-0 up, we let it slip, and we analyse the goals we conceded, the unpleasant trends regarding our goal concessions this season, and how the defensive lapses are secondary to the fact that the attack looks so inhibited at this moment in time. We also wonder if that plays a part in the way the team played with fear in the second half, what it all means for the title race, the questions about our mentality, the growing sense of now or never for Mikel Arteta and, at the heart of it, a sense of frustration because we know this is a team capable of much better than we've been seeing of late.

saw Bukayo Saka play there instead. There's a lot of discussion of him in that position, and whether it's something we might, or indeed should, see more of between now and the end of the season. We discuss the flurry of goals we scored in the first half, the contribution of Eberechi Eze with two assists, a firing forward line, and the way the rest of the game played out with some interesting young cameos in the second half. In this episode I'm joined by Ryan Hunn of the Stadio podcast to pore over last night's 1-1 draw with Brentford. We discuss a first half in which nothing much happened, but one which raised further questions about Eberechi Eze, and how we get more out him in an Arsenal shirt. The half-time introduction of Martin Odegaard helped, Noni Madueke put us ahead but we immediately sat back and Brentford equalised not long afterwards. We try and explain how and why that happened, as well as chatting about the final stages of the game in which we could have both won and last the game, coping with the chaos of the opposition set-pieces, hindsight substitutions, the grind of the Premier League, what Mikel Arteta will do – if anything – to try and find the attacking spark, and lots more.
