Warning: SPOILERS!
Austin Trevor, probably the most miscast Poirot in cinema history, stars in “Lord Edgware Dies.” This version came out about five years after the introduction of sound, and it looks and sounds like it. Is it still watchable? Let’s fine out!
“Agatha Christie, They Watch” reviews the adaptations of Agatha Christie’s novels in their order of publication.
Teresa Peschel, author of "Agatha Christie, SheWatched" and the "International Agatha Christie, She Watched," hosts our livestream. Joining Teresa is her husband, technical adviser, and straight man, Bill Peschel. Together, they are Peschel Press, publisher of intriguing, intelligent, and idiosyncratic books (www.peschelpress.com).

NEXT WEEK: The second taste of “Lord Edgware Dies” —retitled “Thirteen at Dinner,” introduces to the great raconteur and actor Peter Ustinov. This contemporary TV movie from 1985 stars Faye Dunaway and future Poirot David Suchet as Chief Inspector Japp! See you next Thursday!
HOW TO SEE IT:
Man, this is nearly impossible to find. Used DVD copies are for sale on ebay, and your library’s interlibrary loan department might get it for you (that’s how we found our copy). But none of the streaming services seem to carry it (and I checked Prime, YouTube, Yubi, and Google Play).
