Noises Off (1992): Scene By Scene Riff Bonus Episode

    21-07-2026 | 2 u. 11 Min.
As a special bonus today we are dropping a surprise episode of GMR for everyone to enjoy!

Join James and the full original cast from the Haylofters 2018 production of Noises Off for a very special "Good Movies Rule!" reunion episode! Rob King, Julie Schmitt, Jesse, Sherry, and Tara dive deep into the 1992 film starring Michael Caine, Carol Burnett, Christopher Reeve, and John Ritter — while swapping hilarious stories from staging the chaotic backstage farce eight years ago.

From sardines and slamming doors to pantomime mayhem in Act 2, prop table destruction, underwear quick-changes, and that unforgettable "Oh my God!" moment, this is a love letter to community theater, the magic (and stress) of live performance, and why this play-within-a-play still cracks us up. Expect plenty of nostalgia, favorite bits, theater war stories, and our signature awards.

If you've ever been in a show that felt like it was falling apart in the best way possible, this one's for you. Grab the popcorn (and maybe some sardines) and join the BMRmy!

Listen now — and if a local theater near you is doing Noises Off, go see it live. You won't regret it.

#271 - Above the Law (1988): Scene by Scene Riff

    17-07-2026 | 2 u. 27 Min.
Nico Toscani is a Chicago cop with a mysterious CIA past, a ponytail in progress, and a serious allergy to anyone thinking they're above the law — especially when that includes corrupt feds, mobsters, and a certain knife-wielding villain with a face that looks borrowed. Steven Seagal's debut vehicle mixes gritty cop drama, over-the-top action, and enough plot twists to make you wonder if the script was written by committee… or butter injections.

In this week's episode, James, Dave, Bob, and Mel dive scene-by-scene into Seagal's first big swing. They break down the wild Vietnam backstory, the legendary car hood ride, the church bombing, bodega brawls, and that unforgettable "keep the change, you filthy animal" cameo. Expect plenty of laughs at the hair, the flips, the running form, the shoe throw, and whether this is peak early Seagal or the beginning of the end.

They also hand out the awards (including a rare tie for the Will Patton), debate if this is a "bad movie that rules" or just straight-up bad, and wonder what Arnold or Kurt Russell could've done with the same material. Plus: Pam Grier in the car, Sharon Stone with random babies, and why this movie feels like three different films fighting for dominance.

    13-07-2026 | 1 u. 11 Min.
The crew opens up a ton of awesome physical fan mail — including new DVDs for the BMR Reacts pile (Dream a Little Dream, Plan 9 from Outer Space, It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, and more), plus another wild care package from James Clemens complete with extreme heat, Pepto Bismol, and pickle potion.

We dive into your emails and voicemails featuring:
    - Celebrity encounter stories (Jeremy Renner pre-Hurt Locker, baby Catherine Bach/Daisy Duke, Billy Zane signed Demon Knight VHS)
    - Fan updates, food rants (Bojangles & Cook Out supremacy), and life stories
    - Highlander universe deep dive, arm wrestling theories, horror movie advice, and plenty of laughs

    #270 - 2 Fast 2 Furious: A Scene By Scene Riff

    10-07-2026 | 2 u. 27 Min.
The BMR crew is back for more quarter-mile chaos (and whatever the hell that bridge jump was) as we dive into 2 Fast 2 Furious! James, Clint, Bob, and Joe reunite to roast the Paul Walker/Tyreese Gibson bromance, Ludacris in a full-body jumpsuit, Cole Hauser’s rat torture tactics, and enough ejector seat talk to make you question physics. From Orange Julius-sponsored street races to houseboat showdowns and that legendary car-on-boat stunt, this one’s packed with early-2000s Miami vibes, terrible cop plots, and non-stop tangents.

We debate if this is the weakest Fast film, hand out awards (including the most cursed supporting performances), and deliver our final verdicts. Buckle up — it’s bad, it’s furious, and it’s exactly what the BMRmy ordered.
