How Would You Change Golf? Ryder Cup, Mixed Golf & Room 101 | Listener Q&A with Iona Stephen & Dan Walker

    27-10-2026 | 23 Min.
Should the Ryder Cup become a THREE-team competition? And what would Iona Stephen and Dan Walker happily banish from golf forever?

Dan and Iona are currently enjoying a well-earned break, so this week we’re bringing you the second of our pre-recorded Listener Q&A specials. They’ll both be back from their holidays next week when normal For the Love of Golf service resumes!

In Part 2, your questions get Dan and Iona debating some of the bigger – and slightly more dangerous – ideas in golf.

First up: could a three-way Ryder Cup between Europe, USA and an International Team actually work? Would it create an incredible new competition – or completely ruin what makes the Ryder Cup so special?

Then it’s mixed golf. Iona and Dan discuss what a genuinely compelling competition featuring the world’s best male and female golfers could look like, the formats that might work and who they’d choose as their dream mixed pairings.

There’s also an impossible choice: if you could play just ONE golf course for the rest of your life, where would it be?

And finally… welcome to Golf Room 101.

Dan and Iona are each allowed to nominate three things from the world of golf they would happily never see, hear or experience again – but they have to convince the other person that each deserves to go in the bin.

This is your golf club, so keep the questions, stories, Golf Dogs and debate topics coming. And after this episode, we definitely want to hear YOUR nominations for Golf Room 101 in the comments.

If you missed Listener Q&A Part 1, you can catch up on the channel now.

How Do I Get Better at Golf? | Listener Q&A with Iona Stephen & Dan Walker

    20-10-2026 | 42 Min.
How do you actually get better at golf? In Part 1 of our Listener Q&A special, you asked the questions and Iona Stephen and Dan Walker are here to answer them.

From cutting your handicap and curing the dreaded chipping yips to 411-yard drives and interviewing the biggest names in golf, this episode is all about YOUR questions.

Iona breaks down where a 15-handicap golfer can realistically find the shots to get down to 10, what a 6-handicapper should focus on to reach the low single figures.

Dan and Iona also go back to where their own love of golf began, revealing who first introduced them to the game and some of their earliest golfing memories.

Then it’s behind the mic to talk about what it’s really like interviewing the biggest names in golf and sport: the nerves, the difficult questions, the people who surprised them and the interviews they’re proudest of.

Plus: how many golf clubs are Dan and Iona actually members of? What did they shoot at the BMW Pro-Am? And, most importantly, does a 411-yard drive off an elevated tee and downwind really count?!

This is your golf club, so keep your questions coming in the comments and across our social channels.

And look out for Part 2, where we get into some of the biggest debates in golf, and send Dan and Iona into Golf Room 101.

For the Love of Golf is the golf podcast with Iona Stephen and Dan Walker, celebrating everything we love about the game.

Ryan Fox: How I Won The Open | For the Love of Golf Special

    13-10-2026 | 42 Min.
Champion Golfer of the Year Ryan Fox joins Iona Stephen and Dan Walker for a very special episode of For the Love of Golf – and he’s brought the Claret Jug with him.

Recorded last week, Ryan sat down with Dan and Iona for a wide-ranging conversation about life as The Open champion.

Ryan takes us inside his unforgettable victory at Royal Birkdale, where he claimed his first Major Championship and lifted one of the most famous trophies in sport.

He breaks down how he attacked the golf course, the mindset that allowed him to perform under the biggest pressure of his career and, in incredible detail, the closing stages of his final round – including the birdie at the 18th that won him The Open and the moment he realised: “Oh s***, this putt is to win The Open.”

Ryan also opens up about life as Champion Golfer of the Year: the messages from some of the biggest names in golf and sport like Jack Nicklaus and Kelly Slater, the reception back home in New Zealand and what it meant to make his dad, former All Black Grant Fox, proud.

The conversation goes deeper into the mentality behind winning too. Ryan reflects on lessons learned throughout his career – including from the late Shane Warne during their time playing together at the Alfred Dunhill Links – and how he can use the experience of winning the Claret Jug to contend for more Major Championships.

Plus, there are tales of travelling with the Claret Jug, his ambitions for the rest of the season, a potential run at the Race to Dubai and what winning The Open means for the next chapter of his career.

And sometimes it’s simply three people who love golf having a brilliant chat with one of the game’s good guys – with the Claret Jug sitting alongside them.

What would you ask the Champion Golfer of the Year? Let us know in the comments.

The Mindset of a Winner: How Meronk Delivered Under Pressure at the Dunhill Links | For the Love of Golf

    05-10-2026 | 46 Min.
Why do some sportspeople produce their very best when the pressure is at its highest?

Adrian Meronk arrived at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship needing a big result – and left St Andrews as the champion.

In this episode of For the Love of Golf, Iona Stephen and Dan Walker look at the mindset behind performing when the stakes are enormous. Did Meronk have to overcome the pressure at St Andrews – or did knowing just how much was riding on the week actually help him find another level?

For Meronk, it was also a remarkable full-circle moment. Ten years after turning professional at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, he returned to win on the Old Course – and Iona was there to interview him in the emotional moments immediately after his victory.

Dan and Iona discuss what separates elite performers when everything is on the line, whether pressure can become a source of motivation rather than fear, and their own experiences of moments when they simply had to deliver.

Iona also takes us behind the scenes of a memorable Dunhill week in St Andrews – from Kelly Slater surfing at East Sands to a singalong with Ronan Keating and some of her favourite moments from around the Home of Golf.

PLUS… Golf Dogs returns! This week we meet Yogi at Sunningdale, Fernie at Royal Troon, ball-retrieving Alf and Cruz hunting for lost balls at Royal Porthcawl.

Remember, this is your golf club too. Get into the comments and tell us: do you perform better or worse under pressure?

Just How Good is Matt Fitzpatrick? And USA’s Presidents Cup Comeback

    29-09-2026 | 52 Min.
After winning the Open de France for his fourth victory of 2026, the World No.4 gets the For the Love of Golf treatment. Iona Stephen breaks down what makes Fitzpatrick’s game so good – from his brilliant short game and meticulous use of stats to his preparation and course management – while fellow Sheffield man Dan Walker shares his own stories of Matt and the Fitzpatrick family.

Then it’s time to dissect a dramatic Presidents Cup. The International Team took a 10.5–7.5 lead into Sunday before the USA turned the contest around in the singles to win 17–13. Dan and Iona ask why the Americans are so formidable in singles, what changed on Sunday and what we learned about impressive rookies Jackson Koivun and Jacob Bridgeman.

Iona is also heading home to St Andrews for one of her favourite weeks of the year – the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. She explains what makes Dunhill week so special, why golf is woven into everyday life in St Andrews and what fans should experience if they’re heading to the Home of Golf.

PLUS… Golf Dogs returns! 🐶⛳️ This week we meet Rocky the border terrier, Marley the cockapoo and a couple of dogs very familiar to Iona – Ghille, Gigi & Lass.

🎟️ We’re also giving away TWO VIP tickets for the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Sunday 4 October, including lunch at the Old Course Hotel. Head to the For the Love of Golf Instagram page for full details and to enter.

💚 Remember, this is your golf club too. Get into the comments and tell us what you want Dan and Iona to talk about next.
