Fake Faith, Real Consequences | David Schnitter
Many claim Christianity but lack a transformed heart. James 2:19 warns that even demons believe in God—but they aren’t saved. The Kingdom of God is growing, but like wheat and weeds or a fishing net, true believers and false ones will be revealed in time.In this sermon, we tackle three statements for those claiming to be Christians:“I’m a good person.” Jesus came for sinners, not the self-righteous (Mark 2:17).“Jesus is okay with my sin.” True faith leads to transformation (2 Cor 5:17).“I’ve done my part.” Salvation isn’t about works but knowing Jesus (Matt 7:22).Listen in as we explore what real faith looks like and why it matters!

Lovingkindness and the restoration of the heart
In this message, we have a conversation between Naomi and Ruth seeing how Naomi is impacted by the lovingkindness displayed by Boaz towards Ruth. In the process of this conversation, we learn two things: Naomi’s life is being transformed from bitterness to pleasantness, and Boaz is revealed to be one of their kinsmen redeemers, i.e. someone able to provide security and rest for them. We then see how this lovingkindness can have a powerful effect on our own lives as well.

Lovingkindness at the margins
We explore Ruth 2:14-17 which reminds us that God’s lovingkindness reaches those on the margins. Just as Jesus stepped into our messy world, the story of Boaz and Ruth teaches us that kindness, justice, and hospitality transform lives. When we intentionally create margins in our busy lives, we open ourselves to see and serve the poor, oppressed, and vulnerable. By sharing our talents, time, and resources, we build fair systems and become channels of God’s grace. Our mission is to embrace justice and mercy in every act, reflecting the gospel and drawing others into the center of God’s compassionate care. In His name.

27:25
The outworking of lovingkindness
We explore Ruth 2:1-13, highlighting God's lovingkindness (hesed) through Ruth’s encounter with Boaz. Ruth, in a vulnerable position, finds herself in Boaz's field by God's providence. Boaz shows extraordinary kindness, going beyond what’s expected to protect and provide for her. His actions reflect the love and compassion Jesus shows to all of us. We learn how God's providence guides our lives and how we, like Boaz, are called to live out lovingkindness in our relationships. Ultimately, Jesus is the source of all lovingkindness, offering us His protection and provision.
