Sam Clements is curating a fictional film festival. He'll accept almost anything, but the movie must not be longer than 90 minutes. This is the 90 Minutes Or Less Film Fest podcast.

In episode 156 Sam is joined by filmmaker Nia DaCosta, director of Candyman, The Marvels, and Hedda. Her new movie 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is in UK cinemas from 14 Jan 2026. 

Nia has chosen Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes (71 mins).  Directed by Junta Yamaguchi, the 2020 sci-fi comedy stars Kazunari Tosa, Riko Fujitani, Masashi Suwa, and Aki Asakura.

Sam and Nia discuss working on Hedda and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple back-to-back, how she came across Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes, and how she's inspired by Yamaguchi's low-budget filmmaking.

Sam, Ira and Ben discuss Ben and Ira's ongoing collaboration, discovering Linda Rosenkrantz's book on Peter Hujar, and the underseen work of Guy Gilles.

Roddy has chosen Harold and Maude (90 mins). Directed by Hal Ashby, the 1971 film stars Ruth Gordon and Bud Cort, with a soundtrack by Cat Stevens. 

Sam and Roddy discuss discovering Harold and Maude at a pivotal time in his life, the influence of French New Wave films on his song writing, and the importance of re-watching movies.

Sam and Rian discuss the influences on Wake Up Dead Man, under-appreciating Trouble in Paradise on first watch, and the enduring appeal of Ernst Lubitsch.
