Curiously enough, this year's Formula One Grand Prix was quite a good one at the Miami Autodrome. There were overtakes, action and the rain never came. We had several drivers up for pole and the win and the best thing? Very little talk about the terms that had been annoying many Formula 1 fans over 2026. Things like deployment, harvesting, superclipping. No major dramas regarding the restriction of information from FOM.

It felt...normal. Kinda. If we could get more races like this, might 2026 prove to be tolerable enough for most fans? As long as there's a compelling battle for the title?

The 2026 Formula 1 Miami GP was a race to remember...in that it was worth remembering. For a track not held in high regard, this was the place where Formula One test its new patches to the regulations...and they produced a good race. Four teams were in contention for pole and there was a lot of chatter about the racing rather than the artifical nature of them, which can only be good. Not to mention that Williams secured vital points and Franco Colapinto gave his team Alpine his best ever race result after Charles Leclerc had one of the worst laps of his F1 career.

Who else won, lost or was just plain meh?

Yesterday, the drivers spoke up for the first time in this magnitude on the new tweaks and rules Formula 1 and the FIA have cooked up for the 2026 Miami Grand Prix and beyond. However, the mood isn't rosy. Yes, Max Verstappen has had his say as well as others...but Lance Stroll proved to be the hardest hitting Formula One driver of all! Why now, Lance?

Well, it could be many reasons, such as Honda frustrated with a lack of engine upgrades coming their way yet. It also revealed something else. Lance Stroll is unstoppable, politically speaking.

Dorilton Capital, the owners of the Williams F1 team, have been a very patient lot. Willing to wait years for the Formula 1 team to come good and to hire James Vowles to do the job. What's become clear is that as long as the 2026 FW48 was a good car, then all would be well...but so far, it's not. Did Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon commit to this team for a ninth placed Formula One car? I don't think so.

There is a plan though. By Monza, the car should be down to the weight limit and Miami will see the start of that trend down...but what might become clear is that the cost cap that saved the team might now be hindering their progress. Their limit? Reached. For now.

Nobody outside Max Verstappen's inner circle knows the answer, but it's worth trying to figure out. Martin Brundle of Sky Sports F1 reckons that should the Formula 1 champion leave Red Bull (or even the whole thing) it would be hard to find a route back into Formula One at this time. Could sportscars be a safe haven? Maybe, maybe not.

So let's try to answer the question of where would Max actually go?
