As the FIA closes another loophole Mercedes used, this time in F1 qualifying (at times), Toto Wolff's team's advantage gets smaller and smaller. With two less races to win before an effective second start to Formula 1 one this year in Miami, George Russell and Kimi Antonelli will face stiffer competition. However, for the latter, it may not matter as much. As Wolff and Russell lament the situation their Formula 1 team is facing, plus the criticism they aim at their rivals, the Italian has already won races and broken records to cement his place in the sport's history ALREADY.

Seeing the Australian F1 driver NOT at McLaren in the future continues to gather pace despite many denials and contract extensions...but this one? This version is interesting. The FIA has said changes WILL be made in time for Miami...but not to expect anything major. Instead of overhauls to the Formula 1 regulations for 2026, expect a steady phased approach with plenty of consultation with teams, stakeholders and manufacturers. The drivers? Maybe, maybe not. With Formula One drivers seeking enjoyment from other racing series and doing so in quick fashion, should this be something that those involved in the FIA's top sport be worried about? Or will they care not for change for something they're fast in...or dictate the change as they suit it.

In a stunning coup, McLaren secured the right hand man of Max Verstappen. Gianpiero Lambiase has secured the role of Chief Racing Officer for the F1 team by the time 2028 rolls along, maybe even earlier! What does this all mean? Especially given the Verstappen camp gave him their blessing to join a rival team with full support.

Ultimately, what does this all mean? Could this be a sign that Max has made his mind regarding Formula 1...or that he might have chosen his next team and it's NOT Mercedes?

Years ago, Toto Wolff and Mercedes sought to secure their domination into the next era of Formula 1, after the turbo hybrid era had run its course. For 2026, two teams would arrive with Audi and Honda power in F1. One would struggle immediately and prove the Austrian right...and one wouldn't as much. Audi don't act like a completely new operation, much bigger than the Sauber team they inherited.

Whilst glory isn't coming there imminently, Mattia Binotto and Neuberg have produced a power unit and operation which IS turning heads already. Hope for the future?
