Memorable Quotes
"A lot of people who get into personal growth think they can just sit on the sofa eating Cheesy Poofs and watching Netflix and manifest a million dollars into their bank account. That's not the way it works.""Every challenge you've ever experienced has transformed, at some point, into something we would call a solution. The problems that show up in our lives come to pass, not to stay.""Personal growth is not a do-it-yourself project. It's a do-it-with-others project."Connect With David

In this episode of A Changed Mind, David Bayer uses cymatics, the study of how vibration organizes matter into visible patterns, to answer a practical question: what have you been practicing energetically that is holding your current reality in place?
He opens with the classic demonstration. Scatter sand on a metal plate, run sound through it, and the sand organizes into complex geometric patterns. Change the frequency and the pattern reorganizes into something entirely different. David traces the lineage from Ernst Chladni, who made plates vibrate with a violin bow centuries ago, to Hans Jenny, who documented the phenomenon across sand, powders, pastes and liquids and coined the term, to Masaru Emoto and the water crystal experiments with labeled jars. The principle underneath all of it: vibration organizes a material, the quality of the frequency determines the structure, and the structure holds as long as the vibration persists.
Then he makes the translation. What if reality is a field of potential, and your energy is the influence shaping it? You have thousands of thoughts a day, each triggering emotions, all of it electrical activity through your brain and nervous system, plus the 12,000 to 16,000 words the average person speaks. David's framing is memorable: you are the violinist, and the pattern you are holding in place is called your life. Which raises the question he spends the episode on. What label are you putting on the jar?
This is where the Two States of Being come in. In a primal state you are running thoughts like I'm behind, nobody cares, this will never work, and David makes the sharper point that only your thoughts move you there, not your bank balance or your circumstances. He shares a live example from that morning, the pressure to get something right, and what it actually costs him: less patience, less presence, pressure on the people around him when what the situation needed was room to think.
He also handles the health question with real care, acknowledging what it is like to be told you caused your condition by thinking wrong, and keeping the physical condition real while asking whether a daily battle with your body is itself a label. He shares his own ten years single, two homes in foreclosure, failed business, credit card debt, and what actually changed, which was not a financial strategy or a dating app profile. The episode closes with the Decision Matrix run live: find the worry, name the belief, choose the opposite label, then build evidence for it until the new belief becomes the predominant one.

Memorable Quotes
"What have you been practicing at an energetic level that's creating or holding this pattern in place? And what can you do differently to transform and reshape that pattern? I believe that question can fundamentally change your life.""Your thoughts are the only contributors to the way that you feel. It's not the circumstance or the situation. The only thing causing you to feel that way is what you're thinking, not the experience you're having.""Tomorrow, you may notice the old thought again. That doesn't mean you failed. It means you caught the pattern. We don't transform ourselves by having one perfect thought. We change as we recognize what we've been repeating and begin repeating something different."Connect With David

In this episode of A Changed Mind, David Bayer unpacks Ho'oponopono, the four phrase Hawaiian practice millions have encountered online, and answers the question that kept him skeptical of it for years: if someone else hurt you, why are you the one saying I'm sorry?
He starts by correcting the biggest misconception. Ho'oponopono did not begin as four phrases repeated alone in a bedroom. The word roughly means to correct or make right, and traditionally it was relational: families coming together, often with an elder facilitating, bringing a rupture into the open and restoring the relationship. David contrasts that with how most of us actually handle resentment. We replay the conversation in the car. The event happened five years ago and the other person has forgotten it, but inside us it is still happening.
He traces how the modern version emerged through Hawaiian teacher Morrnah Simeona, who removed the requirement that everyone involved participate. That change matters more than it sounds. What if the person will not speak to you, or died 20 years ago? Your healing cannot depend on their willingness. From there he explains Dr. Hugh Len's concept of 100 percent responsibility, with a line he is careful about: responsibility and culpability are not the same thing. Someone else can be entirely responsible for what they did, and you can still work with what it produced in you.
David is also explicit about where the historical teaching ends and his own interpretation begins. He retells the famous Hawaii State Hospital story and states plainly that he has not found documentation supporting it, so it should be treated as lore. Then he reads the four phrases through the belief work he has taught for 15 years, and closes with a practice you can run on your next trigger: ask what it is revealing, follow the emotion down to the belief underneath, run the phrases, then ask what you choose to believe now and who you would be if that were true. Forgiveness does not make you passive. You may still confront the person or set the boundary. It means you act from choice rather than from the wound.

In this episode of A Changed Mind, David Bayer makes the case that the most important skill you can develop right now is not learning more, it is learning how to decide for yourself what is actually true.
He starts with a gap in how all of us were educated. Most people spend 12 to 20 years becoming educated, and almost none of it addresses the questions that determine the quality of a life. Who am I. Where do my beliefs come from. How does reality actually work. You can meet someone with two master's degrees and a PhD who has never investigated why they believe what they believe, or where their definition of success came from. David traces the arc most people follow, school, career, company, house, and the moment around 35 or 45 when they look around and ask, is this it. Those were the exact questions that started his own journey.
The core argument: you were not born believing what you believe. You absorbed it from parents, school, culture, religion, and now algorithms, and there is nothing wrong with that, since nobody can verify everything independently. The problem is that borrowed information quietly becomes borrowed belief, and you stop recognizing it was ever given to you. Outsource your beliefs and you outsource your reality.
David then draws on a Yuval Noah Harari keynote about why fiction has a structural advantage over truth: truth is complicated, truth is expensive in effort, and fiction can be manufactured almost infinitely. He extends it with the harder half, that the truth inside us is the one we avoid, and speaks from his own recovery, the failed business, the blackouts, and how much easier it was to keep telling himself a story about just partying on the weekends. He closes practical, with a belief audit you can run on any area of your life, and a line that matters coming from someone who teaches this material: stop confusing authority with truth, including his own.

Memorable Quotes from David Bayer
"I believe the people who enter your life are not random. They’re part of a curriculum, and once you understand that, relationships begin to make a lot more sense." "If you’re thinking something that doesn’t feel good, it’s not true. That thought is incoherent with the reality of the situation, and that’s why it doesn’t feel good." "The point is to be able to be in a relationship with someone you love and transform that relationship so it’s truly loving. We do that not by getting our partner to change but by changing ourselves." Connect With David
