When Dana’s family moved from a brand-new home to a house in the country, something changed almost immediately. He had spent plenty of weekends taking part in Civil War reenactments, often held on the same land where the events had originally taken place. It was a familiar environment—people in uniform, movement around camp, and just enough unpredictability that you didn’t question every little thing you saw.
Which is why that one moment didn’t stand out right away.
