The Midnight Project Techno Music

Midnighters,
This one is personal. I've been playing Groovecreator's music for fifteen years. His records have filled countless hours of this show and many nights behind the decks. Bringing him to you as a guest on this bonus episode feels like a full-circle moment.
He's sharing something special: a live recording from his set at Playground during Burning Man 2026, captured in Black Rock City. If you couldn't be in the desert this year, this is the closest you'll get to dancing in the dust at sunrise.
The set opens with an unreleased Chicago acid track he made with house legend Roy Davis Jr. From there, it takes you through a Led Zeppelin bootleg, a club edit of Radiohead, and Prydz's Pink Floyd rework. Then it lands on "I Feel Love" by Moroder and Donna Summer, the record that arguably started it all. The last stretch builds into peak-time house and techno, ending with Carl Cox's remix of "Talamanca," a nice nod to the man behind Playground.

There are three Faithless records in this hour. That was not the plan when I started building it. The first one went in, the other two followed, and by the time the hour was finished, it was clear the episode had a spine.
We open with "Tarantula" in KASIA's hands. She has had the kind of year on Drumcode that most artists would take a whole career for, and she was the right person to start this one. Khabiar follows with "Monologue" and Cristian Varela on the remix for Tronic, one of the names Spanish techno was built on, still showing up and still doing the work.
SUDO comes in next with "Converge" on DCLTD, the darker side of the Drumcode family, and he is back later in the hour with "Origin" on the same label. Two records, one artist, and both of them earned their place on their own.
Adam Beyer's remix of "We Come 1" arrives early, and his alternative mix returns further in. He has been carrying this one around all year, Drumsheds and Awakenings among the rooms it has been through, and putting both versions in the same hour is deliberate. Between them sits ADRIANNA's "Shake The Underground" with Tao Andra on the remix for Natura Viva Black, and Tao Andra comes back near the end alongside Sarah de Warren on "Higher" for Arcane.
Zafer Atabey takes the middle with "System Fallt" on EXTIMA and "Align" on Natura Viva Black, and Davestorm keeps EXTIMA in the room with "Let the Bass Guide Us." Konrad (Italy) lands "Din Don" on Gain Records, a label that keeps turning up in these hours because that is where the records keep coming from. Simina Grigoriu closes the DCLTD run with "Divine Assignment."
The last word belongs to Robert Owens. "My Everything" with Rober V, in a warehouse dub by Groovecreator, who has been working with Robert all year and has the touch for it. Robert has been singing on house records since Chicago invented the form. Ending a techno hour on that voice is the only way I wanted to end this one.
One more thing from the island. The Tomorrowland Ibiza staff named me the "Best Artist of the Season" for the 2026 Tomorrowland Residency. Those are the people who work every one of those rooftop nights, who stand at the side of the booth from the first record to the last and hear all of it, week after week. Getting it from them means more to me than any chart position. A good part of what is in this hour was built up there in front of them, and you are hearing it because it worked on that roof first.

Sixty thousand of you hear this hour on DI.FM every week, and that is before the podcast feeds, Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube and every replay in between. The real number is bigger than I can count, and it grows in one way only. Someone sends the link to a friend on a night shift, someone drops the show in a group chat after a set, someone plays it in the car with the windows down. The hour opens on Drumcode with Taste of the Night, the first collaboration between A.D.H.S. and Kos:mo, out on DC4 Vol. 6 last Friday. Sam WOLFE and PETER PAHN came from that same EP last week, so the release is now three records deep in two shows. Victor Ruiz and Modeā follow with Bloom, again on Drumcode, then Zafer Atabey on EXTIMA, the Istanbul label he co-founded. Victor Ruiz returns with Moreira on Arcane Music, and Atlante takes us to twenty minutes, the title track of the Redraft Memories EP on Second State Audio. Gitecdj and Unika DJ land next on BLACKRIFT.
The middle is SS Ventura and Mankraft with Ravalon on Shodan Records, a label I know from the inside, then Marco Faraone with Killa on Artcore, Davestorm with the second EXTIMA record of the hour, and Tech Us Out on Orange Recordings. We close with Simina Grigoriu, Layers of Reality on DCLTD, the Heizek remix of Mind from Caméléonx on Dark Fiend Records, and Connect (BR) with Calum Kieran on Sound Dissonance.
Every one of those artists is someone in this community can discover for the first time this week. Follow them, buy the records, tell your people where you heard it. Small labels grow on exactly that, and so does this show. Full tracklist is on 1001Tracklists as always.

Sam WOLFE opens the hour with Control Delete on Drumcode, and that label sets the tone for the whole show. Six Drumcode records in sixty minutes, more than I usually give one imprint, but Adam Beyer's A&R has been on a run this year and the selection made the case for itself. After Sam WOLFE I go into Atmos, one of mine, then Gonzalo F with Disconnect, also Drumcode, and Mark Reeve with Everything Done on Monika Kruse's Terminal M. Reeve has been a fixture on both of those labels for years, and it shows in how easily his record sits between them.
Les Boys follows, my second track this week, both of them tested on the island this summer. Then Redraft Memories and Spanto with Oculto on Second State Audio, the Pan-Pot label out of Berlin, which gets a long run in the mix because six minutes was what it needed.
The middle of the hour belongs to Kaufmann. Easy A and Nuff Said, back to back, both on Drumcode. I did not want to split them. PETER PAHN keeps the Drumcode thread going with NOCTURE before Sheik (AR) brings Needed You on Sound Dissonance Publishing.
From there the back half opens up. Jay Lumen with Dance4Life on Arcane Music, then Carlo Lio and M.I.T.A. together on Intec, Carl Cox's label and one that has been part of this show since the earliest episodes. Rødhåd's remix of Edge Runner by Ø [Phase] on Modwerks comes next, two Berlin names who have each shaped the harder end of techno for well over a decade and rarely appear on the same record. Slim Black closes with Acid Source on Hyggelit Records.

Midnighters, thank you for another week of showing up. Here is where the hour goes.
It opens with something that is five days old. Zafer Atabey's Keep It Going landed on TRAGEDIE on 28 August, built by the Turkish producer who co-runs EXTIMA, and it does exactly what the title promises. Rino Cerrone follows with Afterglow, Italian discipline, no wasted parts. Then Avision with How We Do It, a Suara cut from his Simple Things EP. Anthony Cardinale has been quietly carrying the New York techno flag for years and this one still hits like it was made last month.
The middle of the hour is where I had the most fun building. Cirez D's On Off is the one throwback here, Eric Prydz in his techno skin on his own Mouseville imprint, and nothing has aged about it. Marco Bailey follows with Full Steam on COD3 QR, which is the label Laurent Garnier runs with Oliver Way. That makes two Garnier connections in twenty minutes, because Garnier is also the one who pulled the Avision track into his fabric presents compilation. Not planned, but I noticed it while I was mixing and left it in.
Then Mescaline. 1200 Micrograms wrote it as psytrance and Victor Ruiz and Alex Stein rebuilt it for VOLTA. It came out on 27 August and it is already sitting near the top of the Beatport peak time chart. Psytrance DNA, techno chassis, and it works on a rooftop at sunset better than it has any right to.
From there we stay heavy. Belocca's Human Construct on Mainground Music brings the tension down and the weight up, Nikoretti's Beyond the Edge keeps it moving, and Devid Dega's Want You Back arrives on Second State, which is still one of the most consistent rooms in techno. Sisko Electrofanatik and Alex Micca close that stretch with Anairod on Off Recordings.
The last quarter is the payoff. Alan Fitzpatrick's Zero Compliance mix of We Do What We Want on We Are The Brave is his own label and his own statement, and the title does not need my help. Franco Smith's Anthem on Natura Viva is exactly what the name says. And we finish with Marie Vaunt and Space 92, Go Go Go on TAKEOFF, because sometimes the last three minutes just need to run.
