Chapters Summary:
Nesta fights her new routine at every turn. Refusing to eat and train, she uses her words like knives to show her displeasure, especially with Cassian, whose patience starts to crack under the constant rejection. At Windhaven, Nesta humiliates the general in front of his fellow Illyrians as she drowns in hauntings from the Cauldron and her father’s death. Meanwhile, Cassian is forced into political games with Eris and the Band of Exiles, leaving him feeling outmatched and raw. Although the tension between Nesta and Cassian comes to a head, which sends both into a tailspin, Nesta finds unexpected sparks of connection in her meetings with Emerie and Gwyn.
