The Serpent: The crimes of Charles Sobhraj

    25-02-2026 | 56 Min.
On Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast, Geordie & Michelle look at a smooth-talkin' serial killer NOT called The Snake...

Ever heard of a serial killer so smooth he made everyone think he was a nice guy who was helping them? That’s Charles Sobhraj — part conman, part celebrity criminal and known as The Serpent. Born in Saigon in 1944, he spent the 1970s drifting along Asia’s hippie trail, targeting free-spirited Western backpackers. One minute he was a friendly gem dealer or a rescuer helping with lost passports, the next, his victims were dead — poisoned, drowned or even burned. He stole their identities, travelled on their passports and lived off their money, all while committing at least a dozen murders across Thailand, Nepal and India. When he was finally caught in 1976, Charles Sobhraj turned prison into his own 'hotel', bribing guards, giving interviews and even escaping by drugging everyone at his own jailhouse party. So where is he now? Is he still in prison? And why is the world obsessed with The Serpent? Listen now!

What happens during a near-death experience?

    11-02-2026 | 54 Min.
On Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast, Geordie & Michelle look at two near-death experiences with uncanny similarities… In 1982, a woman called Karen in Alaska went into hospital for what was meant to be routine back surgery - and almost died on the operating table. When Ginette Biro went into hospital for a minor gynaecological procedure, she, too, almost died. Both had near-death experiences; both experienced similar things. What did they see? What did they experience? Who did they meet? What did they learn from the spirits and divine guides they encountered? And why is kindness important? Listen now to these two women's moving stories and the life lessons they learned.

Paul Loves Linda: The story of Paul & Linda McCartney

    28-01-2026 | 55 Min.
This week, Michelle shallow dives into the legend and folklore behind one of rock n' roll's most normal couples - Paul & Linda McCartney...

When Paul and Linda met in 1967 at the Bag O Nails pub in London, you might think that it was all plain sailing from that first date to their wedding at Marylebone registry office 2 years later... Couldn't be further from the truth. There was shagging, there were missed connections and lots of obstacles to overcome, but by the time they married in 1969, just before the Beatles broke up, the pair were inseparable. In the early 1970s, after kids, a breakdown and a time-out on their farm in Kintyre, the pair formed the band Wings, which allowed Paul to continue making music while keeping Linda - and the kids - by his side. Despite criticism of the band, the media bullying of Linda and dubious tours, time would prove that the band, like their marriage, could endure almost anything and still come out on top. Listen now to the story of how they got together - and stayed together - to become one of rock’s most enduring love stories.

So grab a brown lemonade and settle in as the duo chat about Dan the bespectacled postie, what an Eavesdroppin' doll might look like, telly recs and more, only on Eavesdroppin’ comedy podcast. And remember, wherever you are, whatever you do, just keep Eavesdroppin’!
