For years now, Portugal and its Lusitanos have had my heart.

It all started at 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗹𝗵𝗼 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁, where I rode a Lusitano for the very first time — a moment that quietly changed everything.

Three years ago (2023), I had a deeply emotional interview with 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝗴𝗼 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 and 𝗝𝗼ã𝗼 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗿ã𝗼.

In February 2026, I sat down with Diogo again.

We spoke about what has changed over the past three years — but even more about what lies ahead.

Diogo is a breeder who dares to think differently. He questions traditions, challenges the status quo, and shares his own — sometimes controversial — vision on the future of the Lusitano breed.

Deze ambitieuze onderneemsters heeft sinds jonge leeftijd al interesse in de paardensport en heeft daarop haar opleidingen en werkervaringen aangepast. Zo heeft ze bij verschillende takken van de paardensport gewerkt, onder andere bij Anky Van Grunsven. Hierdoor heeft ze veel kennis opgedaan in de dressuur-, ren en springsport, wat uitermate van pas komt in haar huidige vak. Ze is een graag geziene gast op evenementen en niet vies van een feestje!

Thanks to his touching liberty dressage performances and the special connection between him and his horses, Bartolo Messina has been a crowd favorite for many years. This Italian rider started in the Cavalluna season of 2014/2015. Within seconds, he won the audience’s hearts with his colourful group of horses in the biggest arenas of Europe. Since then, Bartolo and his team have been a constant part of the CAVALLUNA family.
