In late March, 2026, Finland’s Supreme Court shocked the world. Prodded by a relentless state prosecutor, the court convicted Paivi Rasanen — a member of Finland’s Parliament and a former interior minister – under the country’s criminal code designated for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
What did this Christian grandmother and medical doctor do to warrant such a conviction? She helped write a pamphlet 20years ago that expressed biblical views about sexual morality.
Shockingly, Paivi had already been prosecuted for these trumped up charges - twice! The Finnish courts in those cases examined the evidence and concluded the obvious: no crime had been committed. But the prosecutor kept appealing the case, finally reaching the Finnish Supreme Court. And that’s where this farce unfolded.
What exactly happened and why?
