Godly Whistleblower with Mackenzie Morgan

In this episode, Mackenzie reviews the contemporary worship song “The Blessing” by Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes. This song is said to be straight up scripture. But is it often used with a different meaning than the text teaches? Whats the true focal point of this blessing according to scripture? Does that focal point find itself in the song? Mackenzie dives into these questions and more.

In this episode, Mackenzie provides fair definitions to both the Normative Principle of worship and the Regulative Principle. What are these principles, and are there misconceptions about each of them? Does the Normative Principle teach that “anything goes”? Does the Regulative Principle suggest ridged and stuffy worship? Mackenzie gives clarity to these principles as well as how we can have the right approach and mindset when approaching this subject matter.

In this episode, Mackenzie analyzes a very well known hymn. Through taking a closer look into this classic hymn, Mackenzie finds an (unfortunate) all too familiar writing style that has become so prevalent in contemporary worship music. What makes this hymn problematic? Should we lay it to rest? Whats the hymns historical background? All of these questions and more are answered in this episode.

Why does your church do what it does during its Sunday morning services? Did you know that theres an actual principle that your church follows when deciding what goes on during the service? It’s almost an ecclesiological philosophy on how church is done. What principles are there and where did they come from? In this episode, Mackenzie introduces the principles of worship by giving understanding what they cover and what they also don’t refer to. She also explores what appears to be the Biblical standard based on the text itself.

Why is going to church such a chore for Christians? Does scripture command us to go regularly? For Christians that hardly go or don’t go at all, are there other factors that may be hindering them from going…and they don’t even realize it? In this episode, Mackenzie explores all of these questions and more while also offering encouragement to believers who’ve been playing hooky.
