- We’re running out of Fallout games to cover! Which means we’re scraping the bottom of the barrel to bring you a close look at the memory-holed PS2 and XBox entry into the series: Brotherhood of Steel. It’s a Dark Alliance-like that demonstrates that one of those can actually be a lot worse than the others, and it’s all made worse by how poorly it handles the Fallout setting.
Highlighted project: Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy - Uh oh! Both Gary and Kaye have COVID! So please forgive our voices and our absolute flightiness as we answer your questions, read your responses to Ogre Battle 64 and Dispatch, and talk about what makes an inventory system good or bad.
SEPTEMBER GAMES:
Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel
The Saboteur
Pacific Drive (Premium)
OCTOBER GAMES:
Cultic
Stone of Madness
Silent Hill: Townfall - This week we continue our discussion of Ogre Battle 64, a sprawling and mysterious strategy game that eventually sheds the need for using strategy all together. It’s also a story of revolution that stops being about a revolution partway through. This leaves us in the frustrating position of wanting to like it more than we actually do.
Thanks again Will for executive producing this!
Our highlighted project for this week is the creator Mech Amalia, who reviews Gunpla and plays games on her YouTube channel and Instagram. - Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber was a big game that many, including us, missed out on. It’s a followup to a cult classic RTS for the SNES, and it follows Magnus Gallant, a young noble who ends up leading a revolution against his own kingdom. This is a strange game mostly known for its obscure mechanics, but it’s very much in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre in its story and presentation.
This episode covers the game’s generalities, the prologue, and the first chapter.
Big thanks to Will for executive producing this episode!
