What does it really mean to be “under grace”? Does God’s grace simply provide forgiveness when we sin, or should His grace actually change the way that we live? In Romans 6:12-16, the Apostle Paul tells believers not to allow sin to reign in their mortal bodies and not to present their members as instruments of unrighteousness. Instead, we are called to present ourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead. In this teaching, we examine the relationship between God’s grace and obedience, the continuing battle with the sin nature, the difference between conditional surrender and unconditional obedience, and what it means to live under grace rather than under the law. The Feast of Tabernacles, also known as Sukkot, is the final feast called out in Leviticus 23 and a feast overflowing with the themes of joy, remembrance, provision, rest, and the presence of God. In this teaching, we look at God’s commands for the children of Israel and remember how He brought them out of Egypt and provided for them in the wilderness. We also examine the feast’s connection to rejoicing before the Lord, the significance of the eighth day, and the importance of remembering God’s past faithfulness as we trust Him with our future. We then look at two ceremonies associated with the Feast of Tabernacles during the time of Christ—the water-libation and illumination ceremonies—and how the words of Jesus in John 7 and John 8 reveal Him as the living water and the Light of the World.
