Welkom bij een nieuwe aflevering van De Culturele Alleseter, In deze aflevering maak je kennis met de magie van circus, de kracht van de nacht en de klank van de vibrafoon.
Eerst maak ik een culturele radslag met Circasso, de enige circusschool in Den Haag waar zowel jong als oud zich fysiek kan uitdagen en artistiek kan ontwikkelen. We spreken met Maurice de Brieder, financieel directeur, en Magdalena Magui, artistiek leider van Circasso, over hun rol in de stad, de kracht van circus als expressievorm en hoe zij hun liefde voor dit bijzondere vakgebied doorgeven aan een nieuwe generatie. Een plek waar theater, acrobatiek en sociale betrokkenheid samenkomen.
Daarna duiken we de Haagse nacht in met Arantxa Polak – nachtbraker, verkenner van rafelranden en lid van de Haagse Nachtraad. We praten met haar over de aanstaande verkiezing van de nieuwe nachtburgemeester van Den Haag. Wat doet de nachtraad precies? Waarom is een gezonde, diverse en veilige nacht zo belangrijk voor de stad? En wat wordt de rol van de nieuwe nachtburgemeester in dit geheel?
We sluiten af met een muzikaal gesprek met Antonin Jaccard, vibrafonist bij het Young Metropole Orchestra. Op 6 augustus viert het orkest zijn tienjarig bestaan met een groots jubileumconcert in het Zuiderparktheater. We spreken over zijn passie voor percussie, de rol van de vibrafoon en de opwinding rond de wereldpremière van een nieuw werk van Suzan Veneman, winnares van de Rogier van Otterloo Award 2024.

First, I'll take a cultural spin with Circasso, the only circus school in The Hague where both young and old can challenge themselves physically and develop artistically. Then we'll delve into The Hague's nightlife with Arantxa Polak—night owl, explorer of the fringes, and member of The Hague Night Council. We'll talk with her about the upcoming election of The Hague's new night mayor. What exactly does the Night Council do? Why is a healthy, diverse, and safe night so important for the city? And what will the new night mayor's role be in all of this?
We conclude with a musical conversation with Antonin Jaccard, vibraphonist with the Young Metropole Orchestra. On August 6th, the orchestra celebrates its tenth anniversary with a grand anniversary concert at the Zuiderparktheater. We discuss his passion for percussion, the role of the vibraphone, and the excitement surrounding the world premiere of a new work by Suzan Veneman, winner of the 2024 Rogier van Otterloo Award.
