A Stronger Faith

Steven Snook was a career criminal facing up to life in federal prison when he made a 15-second deal with God from a jail cell: “Lord, if you save my brother’s life, I’ll give you every breath for the rest of my life.” His brother lived, and what God began doing through Steven behind prison walls is hard to explain any other way.

Steven wasn’t looking for God when he went to prison. He was still immersed in the criminal life when a crisis involving his brother drove him to pray. Soon afterward, he began reading the Bible, encountered the presence of God, and became convinced that what Scripture describes about the Holy Spirit and the supernatural life of a believer was actually real.

Inside federal prison, Steven says God began teaching him to hear His voice, pray in the Spirit, and act when the Holy Spirit prompted him. One day on the prison yard, he felt led to pray for a man in a wheelchair who said he hadn’t walked in two years. Steven prayed for him in the name of Jesus—and the man got up and started running.

In this conversation, Steven shares his remarkable journey from violent criminality and federal prison to a life centered on Jesus, healing, deliverance, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, prayer, fasting, radical obedience, and what he believes is available to every believer who genuinely wants more of God.

Tori Gilbert had followed Jesus for years, but after being baptized in the Holy Spirit, her Christian life became something she says she never knew was possible.

Tori grew up believing in God, heard His audible voice as a child, surrendered her life fully to Jesus at 19, attended Bible college, and even served on the mission field. But after years of following Christ, she found herself asking a difficult question: Is this all there is?

Then she was baptized in the Holy Spirit. Almost immediately, Tori says her desires changed, her relationship with God came alive in a new way, and spiritual gifts she had never experienced began appearing. What started as a few simple syllables while praying in tongues soon became what she describes as an entire language pouring out of her for hours—along with an interpretation and an urgent message from the Holy Spirit for someone she barely knew.

Since then, Tori says she has experienced prophetic words, tongues and interpretation, spiritually significant dreams, supernatural discernment, evangelism, and a completely different understanding of prayer and partnership with the Holy Spirit.

This conversation explores what changed, how she knew these experiences weren't simply emotion or imagination, and why Tori believes there is far more available to followers of Jesus than she once understood.

Joe Mathews spent years searching for God, questioning what was real, and asking for evidence. Then he challenged God directly: “Hit me right between the eyes.”

Joe believed God existed, but he struggled to understand why a God who was supposedly everywhere seemed so hidden. His search led him through Eastern spirituality, séances, Ouija boards, and other spiritual experiences before he eventually walked into a Christian meeting he almost left.

After responding to an invitation to follow Jesus, Joe says he felt the force of a blow directly between his eyes that sent him several feet backward. What followed was an intense encounter with the Holy Spirit that he says changed him immediately.

Joe also shares about seeing what he believes was an angel, encounters with demonic activity, his search for evidence of God, and the years of faith that followed.
