What Is Your Guiding Word or Phrase for the Year?你2026年的关键词或座右铭是什么？��For Adrian:It would be “just keep going (继续前行)”. 他之所以选择这一句作为guiding phrase for 2026是因为真正的进步需要时间。Rome wasn’t built in a day (罗马不是一天建成的). Small consistent improvements (持续的进步) can truly make a huge difference. ��For Flora:It would be “ease (松弛)”. 不是躺平或者摆烂，而是那种the chill vibe (松弛感) that comes after good planning and efficient work (高效工作).

Year-end Greetings from Foreigners 外国人的年底见面语每到年末外国人的见面问候就会变得不一样了。在西方，从感恩节到圣诞、再到年底，everyone suddenly starts checking in on you (突然关注你)。因为人们现在正处在假期闲聊季（Holiday Small Talk Season）。在这个时候，人们见了面不再只是问：“How’s it going? How’s your day?”而是：“How are you holding up this time of year?” “年底这段时间过的还行吗？”“Ready for the holidays?” “准备好过节了吗？”“How was your year?” “今年过得怎么样？”��那我们应该怎么回答这些问题呢？Do they really want the full story? Or are they just being polite (礼貌的)?有一个非常简单的判断标准：如果这个问题是在你们“擦肩而过”的时候问的，那它多半就是客套一下。People ask it because the holidays can be stressful (过节挺忙的), not because they want a deep answer.02. Practical Responses for Year-end Greetings 年底见面语的实用回答��第一个问题：“How are you holding up this time of year?”我们可以怎样回答呢？“Busy, but in a good way.” “很忙，但忙得很值。”“A little tired, but overall good.” “有点小累，但总体不错。”“You know... end-of-year vibes.” “年底都这样，你懂的。”这个答案更为地道、随意。��第二个问题：“Ready for the holidays?”这像是一个small talk的万能开头。这个问题重点不在于你有没有“ready”，而是“我们可以一起聊一聊这个事”。我们可以这样回答：“As ready as I’ll ever be.” “我已经准备好到不能再好了。”这是英语中一种典型的、略带幽默又有点无奈的表达方式。“Trying to be!” “正努力准备好呢！”“Sort of... still a lot to do.” “算是吧，还有一堆事呢。”��第三个问题：“So... how was your year?”这个问题要是认真回答起来，it could take a while (恐怕得需要一点时间了)!我们可以这样简单地回复：“It was a mixed year.” “这是一个混合的一年：有喜有忧、喜忧参半、起起落落。”“Ups and downs, you know.” “起起落落，你知道的。”“A lot happened.” “这一年发生挺多事的。”不同回答的关键点在于：whether they stop and wait for your answer。03. In-depth Questions Requiring Sincere Responses 需要真诚回答的深度问题��当然还有一些问题不是寒暄，需要认真回答，例如：“What was the biggest thing you learned this year?” “你今年学到的最深刻的道理是什么？”这个问题我们可以从“I learned to...”入手，例如：“I learned to slow down and say no more often.”“我学着慢下来，试着拒绝。”或者也可以用“I realized...”来回答，例如：“I realized I don’t have to have everything figured out.”“我意识到了没必要把一切都想明白。”These questions deserve a real answer because the person is probably wanting a real conversation (交谈).��另一个需要认真回答的问题是：“Are you happy where you are right now?”“你对现在的生活满意吗？”这个问题和“How are you?”的那种寒暄式关心还不太一样。如果有人问这个问题，很有可能那个人是真的关心你。此时，你也无需用“I’m fine.”这样的客套话了。你可以说：“I’m not fully there yet, but I’m getting closer.”“我还没达到我想要的，但是也在慢慢靠近了。”或者是：“I’m figuring it out.”“我还在摸索呢。”Just remember：年底的这些问候不是考试，也不是面试（interview）。You don’t owe anyone a life summary (你不欠任何人一个人生总结).但如果有人问你的话，you’re allowed to answer honestly (真诚回答). What Is Recap? 什么是Recap？Recap即“快速回顾或总结（a quick review or summary）”，像按下回放键（hit rewind），重温（look back）这一年发生的大小事，其实就是“年度回顾或年度总结”。Recap既可作为名词，例如a 2025 recap（2025年度回顾）；也可作为动词，比如Let’s recap!（我们来回顾一下吧）。与Recap意思相近的tag（标签）#YearInReview（年度回顾）也同样出现在Instagram、Twitter等平台。今年的recap风格尤其鲜明，主要分为两大派别。02. The Polished Recap 精致励志派 ��第一大派别是polished recap。Polished原义为“抛光的、光滑的”，用来形容recap，就是指那些精致、完美、经过精心包装的“年度总结”。The polished recap这类总结常与这些关键词（key words）相关：1）Growth 成长2）Resilience 韧性3）Gratitude 感恩4）Lessons learned 收获的教训它们充满励志气息，鼓舞人心（inspirational）。The polished recap常见形式包括：1）9-photo grid 九宫格照片展示最精彩的旅行瞬间（best travel moments）、健身成果（gym progress）、朋友聚会（friend hangouts）或职场高光时刻（career highlights）。Grid原本是“网格”，在这里就是指9张照片放在一起，中间的空隙像网格一样。2）Yearly music playlist 年度歌单用音乐定义一年的气质。It’s like saying, “Here’s who I was this year.”3）Long reflection 总结长文尤其在LinkedIn（领英）或Facebook等平台，发表兼顾情感与专业的回顾（both emotional and also professional），感谢同事（coworkers）、感恩家人（appreciate family），分享一年的心得与成长。03. The Self-deprecating Recap 幽默自嘲派��第二大派别是self-deprecating recap。Self-deprecating 意为“自嘲、自黑”，self-deprecating humor就是“自嘲式幽默”；也可以用the self-roasting来表达：roast有“烤”的意思，在这里就是“自黑”。Deprecating /'deprəkeɪtɪŋ/ adj. 自嘲的The self-deprecating recap往往充满：1）Memes 表情包2）Short videos 短视频3）Chaotic photo dumps 混乱的照片合集这类recap不是展示成功（isn’t about showing off success），反而乐于分享failures（失败或翻车）、embarrassing moments（糗事与尴尬瞬间）。这样的真实瞬间（real moments），会让人产生共鸣，感觉“原来不止我这样”。04. China vs. U.S. Night Markets中美夜市之别��中国的夜市在这几年一直比较火热，那美国有“夜市”或者类似的说法吗？The U.S. does have things kind of similar, 但形式还不太一样。中国的夜市几乎everyday-open（每天开放），并且美食居多（food-heavy）。They are super social (社交的) night markets.美国的夜市更像是seasonal events (季节性活动) 或者是weekend festivals。They are not everyday-open. ��那美国有类似于seasonal events（季节性的夜市活动）吗？The answer is yes.02. Limited Christmas Market Romance 限定圣诞集市浪漫最近圣诞节（Christmas）临近，圣诞集市(Christmas Markets) are popping up (出现) everywhere.��What are people posting (发布)?People keep posting like: “This is so magical (奇妙),” or “Can this stay open all year (这可以整年开放吗)?”但圣诞集市通常one month a year（一年只有一个月）。虽然听上去比较短，but it’s really worth it (值得). Scene of the Christmas Market (圣诞集市的场景):1.Wooden chalet-style booths (小木屋摊位)2.Fairy lights (小灯串) 3.The smell of cinnamon and mulled wine drifting through the air... The vibe (氛围) is very social. 这是一个社区型的社交/娱乐场所（a very community hangout ）。04. “Night Market” in U.S. Context 美式“Night Market”认知��Q1：把中国夜市翻译成“Night Market”可以吗？在美国并没有所谓的“Night Market”。The night markets here would be referring to Asia inspired markets (由亚洲启发的市场) in cities, 而不是亚洲人拥有的“夜市”。��Q2：如果在美国说Night Market，人们脑海中可能会蹦出什么样的画面呢？ Something kind of similar are Farmer’s Markets (农贸市场). 农民在农贸市场上卖fresh produce（新鲜的农产品）。The groceries are organic (有机的).温馨提示：即使是Farmer’s Markets也很少有5点之后再卖东西的了，所以在美国晚上就别去找Farmer’s Markets了。05. Hosts’ Favs: Top Night Market Treats 主播私藏：夜市心头好��Erin：She loves烤冷面.
