What If We’re the Ones Making Mediumship Difficult?! with Reverend Gurdeep Bhogal

    22-08-2026 | 57 Min.
!What if the spirit world isn’t making mediumship difficult — we are? Reverend Gurdeep Bhogal joins me to explore Kundalini awakening, fear and doubt in mediumship, soul purpose, authenticity, yogic wisdom, consciousness, breath and what it means to live as the fullest expression of who we really are.
This week on Soul Sync, I’m joined by Reverend Gurdeep Bhogal — psychic medium, ordained Spiritualist minister, Reiki Master Teacher, yoga teacher and holistic practitioner — for a conversation that begins with mediumship and ends up somewhere much bigger.
Gurdeep’s journey has taken her from growing up in West London and a successful career with British Airways to America, Spiritualism and an extraordinary Kundalini awakening that changed the direction of her life. She now works at the intersection of ancient yogic wisdom, modern Spiritualism, healing and mediumship.
We explore why spiritual awakening isn’t always beautiful or comfortable, how trauma and our human experiences shape the development of a medium, and why fear, doubt and conditioning can become the very things that get between us and the natural simplicity of spirit communication.
Gurdeep makes the wonderfully simple observation that there is nothing wrong with the spirit world — it is intelligent and magnificent. Perhaps our work is learning how to stop getting in its way.
But this conversation goes far beyond mediumship.
We talk about leaving conventional ideas of success behind, money versus fulfilment, living as the truest expression of your soul, authenticity in an increasingly airbrushed world, and mediumship as an extraordinarily intimate form of connection.
Then we head properly down the Soul Sync rabbit hole — into ancient yogic wisdom, consciousness, the physical body, non-duality and Gurdeep’s beautiful proposition that we are not merely part of consciousness: we are consciousness itself.
And towards the end, Gurdeep explores how something as ordinary as a single breath can contain the cycle of life and become a doorway into stillness, consciousness and connection with spirit.
This is a conversation about mediumship.
But perhaps even more than that, it’s about remembering who we are.
Connect to love. Be curious. And have compassion for yourself.

The Love That Remains: My Dad, London and the Memories We Leave in Things

    21-08-2026 | 22 Min.
What happens to the things we spend a lifetime collecting when we're no longer here to hold onto them?
I've spent the last few days back in London, sorting through my family home and going through my dad's possessions following his passing.
It's been emotional, sometimes difficult, and unexpectedly thought-provoking.
Because an object can be just an object — until it belongs to somebody you love.
Suddenly a photograph, a piece of clothing, something tucked away in a drawer or an everyday possession can seem to contain an entire story.
In this short solo episode of Soul Sync, I reflect on what this experience has made me think about: our attachment to possessions, the memories and energy we associate with physical things, and whether objects can somehow become a doorway back into the people and moments connected with them.
I also share a little about where I am personally right now — a period of enormous change, what I've been working through within myself, and where my own mediumship and curiosity about consciousness are taking me.
Perhaps letting go of someone's belongings doesn't mean letting go of them at all.
Perhaps love was never contained within the thing.
Perhaps love is simply what remains.
The episode closes with Love by Noa Bentor, licensed via Artlist.
And before I leave you with this beautiful track, I’d really love to hear from you.
If there’s somebody you think would make a wonderful guest on Soul Sync, a topic you’d love us to explore, or perhaps you have a story, experience or perspective of your own that you’d like to share on the show, please get in touch.
Soul Sync is ultimately about real people, real experiences and the conversations that help us understand ourselves, each other and this strange, beautiful thing called life a little more deeply.

I’d genuinely love to hear from you.

Your Sensitivity Is Not a Weakness: The Making of a Young Medium with Lucas Ilcken

    19-08-2026 | 1 u. 8 Min.
What if the part of yourself you once considered a weakness was actually waiting to become your greatest strength?
Before meeting today’s guest, Jason opens up about the enormous changes taking place in his own life: leaving behind the business he built over a decade, stepping into uncertainty and learning to trust the pull towards a more meaningful and spiritually aligned future.
He is then joined by 24-year-old Dutch medium Lucas Ilcken, whose relationship with sensitivity began during childhood. Lucas experienced an awareness of spirit from a young age, but as he grew older, being deeply sensitive became something he tried to escape.
Everything began to change after a remarkable encounter with a stranger on the streets of Amsterdam. That meeting eventually led Lucas to meditation, a deeper understanding of himself and his first visit to the Arthur Findlay College.
During that first week, Lucas began to recognise that his sensitivity was not something he needed to overcome. It was something he needed to understand.
Jason and Lucas explore what it means to live as a sensitive person in a world that often rewards toughness, why the right environment can completely change how we experience ourselves and how the qualities we suppress may contain some of our greatest potential.
Lucas also shares the huge leap of faith he took when he sold the successful family business he had helped run for years. In choosing mediumship, he was not simply changing careers; he was releasing an identity, a family legacy and the security of a life he already knew.
    Together, they discuss:
    • Why sensitivity can feel like a weakness before we understand it
    • Lucas’s childhood experiences of spirit and intuition
    • The stranger who changed the direction of his life
    • His first extraordinary experiences at the Arthur Findlay College
    • Why mediums should remain humble about what they believe
    • Trusting spirit while learning to trust yourself
    • The confidence knocks that accompany spiritual development
    • Choosing a full heart over full pockets
    • Whether mediumship can truly prove life after death
    • Nervousness, excitement and working on the platform
    • Why mastering yourself matters more than mastering mediumship
This is a conversation about mediumship, but it is also about identity, courage and becoming comfortable with the person you were always meant to be.
Perhaps your sensitivity was never the problem.
Perhaps you were simply never shown how to work with it.

The Inner Pilgrimage: Finding Your Soul’s Path with Michael Dove

    17-08-2026 | 52 Min.
What if the most important journey of your life isn’t taking you somewhere new — but taking you deeper into yourself?
In this episode of Soul Sync, Jason is joined by spiritual teacher and researcher Michael Dove for a fascinating exploration of the soul, spiritual awakening, purpose and what Michael calls the inner pilgrimage.
Michael’s own journey has taken him around the world. He has spent almost six years living in India, travelled repeatedly into the Himalayas, explored traditions ranging from spiritualism and shamanism to past-life work, and spent decades investigating the deeper nature of human consciousness and the soul.
But some of his greatest lessons have come through the unexpected.
Michael shares why periods of trauma, disruption and even the moments when life appears to completely fall apart can sometimes become powerful spiritual initiations. Together, Jason and Michael explore the idea of soul design — and the possibility that the longing for something more may be pointing us towards a life that is more deeply aligned with who we came here to be.
Michael also recounts an extraordinary experience meeting a Yaqui medicine man in Mexico who appeared to recognise him on a level that transcended their physical meeting.
Then the conversation travels to Varanasi and the River Ganges.
Michael arrived there in 2020 just days before COVID transformed the world. While others evacuated, he chose to stay. As tourists and pilgrims disappeared from the ancient holy city, Michael became part of the local community and helped establish Meals on the Ganges, providing food and support during an extraordinary period in Varanasi’s history.
It led him to a beautifully simple spiritual teaching:
The quickest way to enlightenment? Feed the hungry.
    This conversation explores:
Why spiritual awakenings often begin when life falls apart
    Reframing trauma and difficult experiences
Soul contracts, soul design and the deeper question of why we are here
Learning to pay attention to what life is showing us
Michael’s extraordinary encounter with a medicine man in Mexico
What service can teach us about spirituality
Life beside the Ganges during the COVID pandemic
Why dissatisfaction can sometimes be a message from the soul
Finding a path that doesn’t yet have a name
Moving from misalignment into a soul-aligned life
The difference between the outer pilgrimage and the inner pilgrimage
Why the real spiritual work happens within
Perhaps we spend much of our lives asking where we need to go next.
But what if the better question is:
Where is my soul trying to lead me?

Colour Outside the Lines: Mediumship, Creativity and the Courage to Be Yourself with Shelley Youell

    15-08-2026 | 1 u. 8 Min.
When did we become so frightened of getting things wrong?
So many of us carry an inner critic that has been quietly collecting evidence for years.
    You can't draw.
    You're not creative.
    You're imagining it.
    You're not good enough.
And eventually, without even realising it, we begin living within the boundaries those thoughts have created.
In this episode of Soul Sync, I welcome back spiritual medium and artist Shelley Youell for a conversation that begins with spirit art but unfolds into something much bigger: creativity, self-expression, mediumship, confidence and the courage to discover your own way of working.
Shelley shares how art became another language through which she could express and experience spirit — sometimes through colour, sometimes through portraiture and sometimes through simply allowing herself to create without knowing what the finished piece was supposed to become.
We explore why creativity belongs to all of us, not simply people who consider themselves “artists”, and why the analytical mind can so easily interrupt both creativity and mediumship.
Along the way, we talk about:
The psychology of mediumship and why self-doubt is so common
How a single thought can empower or disempower us
Why creativity is much bigger than artistic ability
Spirit art and communicating beyond words
Using colour and art as forms of expression
The things we're told about ourselves that can stay with us for decades
Perfectionism and the fear of getting something wrong
Sitting in the power and allowing spirit to inspire the creative process
    Altered states and inspired art
Learning how your mediumship works rather than copying somebody else's
Why the analytical mind can interrupt spirit communication
Spirit portraiture and evidential information through art
Developing your own relationship with colour in mediumship
Why definitions can sometimes get in the way of feeling
The importance of playfulness, experimentation and joy
And why perhaps we were never supposed to fit neatly into a box in the first place
One of the things I loved most about this conversation was Shelley's reminder that development — spiritual or otherwise — isn't something we're supposed to endure.
    We're allowed to enjoy it.
    We're allowed to experiment.
We're allowed to make something terrible.
We're allowed to change our minds.
We're allowed to colour the tree pink.
And when that inner critic appears to explain all the reasons we shouldn't...
perhaps we can lovingly tell it to be quiet for five minutes and see what happens.
Because sometimes the things that bring us the greatest joy are the things we nearly talked ourselves out of trying.
